Privacy Policy

Vox Earth ("we", "the app") visualizes public opinion on a 3D globe. This policy explains what we collect and how it is used. We do not require an account, and we do not ask for your name, email address, or phone number.

Information we handle

• Your votes. The option you choose on a question, and the time it was cast.
• Approximate location (optional). Only if you grant location permission, we use your location rounded to about 1 km (two decimal places) to place your vote as a light on the globe. We never store or display your exact address. If you do not grant permission, your vote is placed on the Moon instead and the app works fully.
• Approximate country/region from IP. To label votes by country, your approximate location may be derived from your IP address by a third-party service (see below). Your IP address is not stored with your vote in identifiable form.
• A device identifier. A locally generated identifier is used solely to prevent the same device from voting more than once on the same question. It is not linked to a personal profile.
• Embedding site (for embedded polls). When a poll is embedded on another website, we record the host name of that site (not the full URL) to attribute participation.
• Notification token (optional). If you enable notifications, a push token is stored so we can send you new featured questions. You can turn this off at any time.

How we use it

• To display aggregated results on the 3D globe, the country map, and trend charts.
• To prevent duplicate voting.
• To send optional notifications about new questions, if you opt in.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Third-party services

The app relies on the following services to function:

• Supabase — database and backend hosting for polls and votes.
• ipapi.co and BigDataCloud — approximate location from IP address / reverse geocoding of coordinates to a place name.
• Apple Push Notification service (iOS) and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android) — delivery of optional notifications.
• Content delivery networks (e.g. jsDelivr) for app resources.

All network communication uses HTTPS (encryption in transit).

Data retention

Votes and aggregated results are retained to keep results and historical trends available. You may request deletion of data associated with your device identifier by contacting us.

Children

Vox Earth is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

• Deny location permission — your vote goes to the Moon; the app still works.
• Disable notifications at any time from the in-app bell.
• Contact us to request deletion of data tied to your device identifier.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be posted on this page with a new date.
